Music producer, reporter and blogger for NPR Music. He contributes stories about classical music to NPR news programs, hosts the public radio network’s classical music blog Deceptive Cadence, and is classical music reviewer for the afternoon program All Things Considered.
He spent seven years as a producer, writer and editor for the Peabody Award-winning daily classical music show Performance Today and for programs SymphonyCast and World of Opera. He has produced live concert broadcasts from the Kennedy Center, as well as radio specials and music videos with Joyce DiDonato, Lawrence Brownlee, Kronos Quartet and Yo-Yo Ma, among others.
A former music director of New Mexico station KRWG, he also taught radio production at New Mexico State University. Huizenga has reviewed concerts and recordings for the Washington Post since 2002.
