Santiago Serrate is a concertation teacher in the Ramón Areces Foundation “Alfredo Kraus” Voice Chair, a teacher of conducting techniques and an instrument sponsor at the Reina Sofía School of Music; a teacher and guest conductor at the Liceu Higher Conservatory of Music in Barcelona; a member of the committee of experts of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the International University of La Rioja, vice-president of the Wagner Club of Barcelona, and a mentor on the “Generación Talento” program of the Princess of Girona Foundation. He regularly conducts some of Spain’s leading orchestras, as well as orchestras in Portugal, Italy, Germany, Greece, China, and Mexico. He has led over 150 world and 36 national premieres, and his operatic repertoire includes 71 titles, working with artists such as Plácido Domingo, Dolora Zajic, Jonas Kaufmann, Leo Nucci, and Bryn Terfel. As an opera and ballet conductor, he has performed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and the Teatro Real and the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, among other venues. He is a Leonardo Fellow and current director of the BBVA Foundation Music Season.
