Christian Illies occupies the Chair of Philosophy at Otto-Friedrich University in Bamberg, and is also Visiting Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at TU Hamburg-Harburg. After graduating in biology, philosophy and art history, he went on to earn a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Oxford. His areas of interest include political anthropology, the ethics of manipulation, philosophy of biology, evolution and ethics, and the philosophy or architecture.
