Deputy Director and Head of the Developmental Biology Division at The Roslin Institute and Genus Chair of Animal Biotechnology in the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom).

A pioneer in the use of lentivirus vectors for transgene delivery, he is now working on a robust methodology for genome editing in livestock, in order to combat infectious disease in animals and evaluate new treatments for human disease.

Editor-in-Chief of ‘Transgenic Research’, he has worked with the World Organization for Animal Health.
