Antonio Ciccone is Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim (Germany). Prior to joining the faculty at Mannheim, he was a professor in the Department of Economics and Business at Pompeu Fabra University (Spain) and assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a PhD in Economics from Stanford University and an MSc in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the London School of Economics. His research interests lie principally in the economic factors driving democratization processes and the outbreak of civil wars, the long-term effects of immigration, and human capital and growth. Ciccone is a research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research and a former head of its Macroeconomics and Growth program. He has served as editor of The Economic Journal and other leading academic publications.
